Performs a variety of skilled tasks in connection with the installation, maintenance and repair of HVAC systems and related equipment for the University owned Residence Halls, Apartments, Dining Commons and related buildings as outlined below to accomplish the operational needs of the department. Promotes Customer service programs in the custodial services unit to residence/clients. Assists with the development and maintenance of a work environment that is conducive to meeting the mission of the organization. Responsible for completing job duties in a manner that demonstrates support for HDAE. Initiates communication directly with co-workers and or supervisors to improve and clarify working relationships, identify problems and concerns and seek resolution to work-related conflicts. Participates in staff training and development workshops, retreats and meetings as determined by supervisor.
Requirements: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 4 years journeyman experience as a trades craftsman in the area of heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), boiler systems, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Skills to use and maintain tools and equipment in a safe and secure manner. Works effectively in a team environment.
Notes: Fingerprint background check required. Ability to respond to emergency calls after duty hours. EPA Technician Certification or ability to obtain EPA Certification within 6 months of hire. Maintain a valid CA driver's license.
