*Position Purpose

This position is responsible for developing and delivering technical, safety and compliance training to increase the capabilities and effectiveness of the Generation organization through the development of individuals and work groups with a focus on maintenance and technical skill sets.  Responsibilities include consulting with management in the identification of technical skill deficiencies and providing relevant training remedies.  This position will create and administer needs assessments for employees and make training recommendations to address those needs.  The individual will assist in the preparation and delivery of employee technical performance reviews as required.  Daily activities include working with other training coordinators/consultants to ensure consistency in approach throughout the fleet.

Designs, delivers, and tracks specialized technical training and required Maintenance training programs that meet business objectives, organizational values, operating principles, cultural change imperatives and required regulatory, safety and compliance requirements.
 
Serves as a subject matter expert in numerous maintenance activities relevant to Generation equipment.
 
Will make recommendations to address critical areas where additional Maintenance or technical training is identified. 
 
Partners with plant personnel in identifying and diagnosing technical skill deficiencies to determine and develop appropriate remedies such as formalized training programs, on-the-job training programs, self-study programs, etc.
 
Conducts training needs analysis to identify specialized and required technical, compliance and safety training. Develops comprehensive training plans and long range scheduling.
 
Designs and implements training evaluation procedures; monitors and evaluates effectiveness of training programs and administers written examinations and skill performance testing as required. Continually strives to maximize training efficiencies through innovative training methods and application of new technologies for leading edge and cost effective training.

*Education & Experience

Experience in working with all types of adult learning methods preferred, including classroom, on the job, self-study and computer based training.  Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, Communication or Engineering; relevant technical education such as a credentialed apprenticeship program; or an alternate combination of education and technical experience which results in equivalent job knowledge required.  Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to develop and retain a broad knowledge of company and field operations, construction standards, safety disciplines/rules, procedures and applicable OSHA and other regulatory agency’s rules. Minimum of three years of experience in relevant line of business or five or more years in the development and delivery of technical training.  PC and MS Office proficiency will be necessary for computer-based training and records maintenance. Driver’s license is required.

*Preferred Qualifications

Power plant mechanical maintenance, journeyman-level construction, or machinist experience preferred.  Possesses a comprehensive knowledge of communication, education and training techniques.  Requires maintenance training and experience and excellent written and oral communication skills with broad knowledge of company operations. Ability to read and comprehend technical journals, industry regulations and the ability to interpret information for an audience of broad knowledge.  Possesses a comprehensive understanding of the operating line of business, and the company’s operation and safety procedures.  Ability to develop technical training materials.  Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with all levels within the company and the ability to lead and direct large numbers of employees within classroom settings.  Requires the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects.  Requires active participation in programs, seminars and organizations to enhance training skills, technical expertise and utility industry knowledge.
